Wow this question is right up my alley!. I will give you some classic albums that you must own!.
1!. Every album by Led Zeppelin, they are the only band that can compete with the beatles for best band ever, but check out Houses of the Holy or Led Zeppelin II!.
2!. The Rolling Stones, check out Let it Bleed (1969) or Exile on Main Street (1971)!.
3!. Pink Freaking Floyd, one of the awesomest bands to ever put musical fusion together!. I like Wish You Were Here, Dark Side of the Moon, and The Wall!.
4!. The Ramones, they are the band credited with making punk music credible to the mainstream, and if you don't own a Ramones album then you are not a rock fan!. My favorite is their self titled debut!.
5!. Bob Dylan, I know people really like to rag on Bob, but he wrote some great music in the 60's and the 70's!. Check out Blonde on Blonde, one of my favorite albums of all time!. Desire is also great!.
6!. David Bowie, although a lot of rock critics rag on him for being trendy with the times, he wrote some great stuff!. My favorite albums from him are Hunky Dory and Ziggy Stardust!. Those albums will blow your mind!.
