Should I play the Acoustic or Electric Guitar?!

Question: Should I play the Acoustic or Electric Guitar!?
Ok, so, I'm thinking of starting guitar lessons very soon, and I was wondering if I should play the Acoustic, or the Electric!.
Everyone keeps telling me that beginners should really begin on the Acoustic, but I don't really feel like playing folksong/country/jazz/etc!.

The only reason I want to play the guitar, is to play more of the rock genre, such as Metallica for example!. I'm not really interested in much else at the moment!.

Should I play the Electric Guitar, which I would rather want to play, or the Acoustic as a beginner!?
I'm very confused, and I need help from an experienced guitar player!. Thanks!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I have been playing the guitar for over 20 years and I started on the acoustic!. The reason they tell you to start on the acoustic is that you can hear your mistakes more on the electric!. Another reason is that by playing the acoustic you will develop your fingers better than on the electric!. If you want an electric sound get a pickup for the guitar!. After learning on the acoustic and finally switching to electric you will fly over the fret board!. Playing acoustic helps with your chops!. I have to warn you that you will probably get frustrated at first because it will be hard for you to make it sound good!. Just don't give up and eventually you will get it but it takes time!. Practice, practice, practice!. You must be committed!. Good luck and rock on!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

the problem with starting on an electric guitar is that you become fascinated with the noise you can make with it! start with an acoustic!.!.!. it doesn't mean you have to play folk or jazz or country!. once you are competent and have proved to yourself that you will stick with it, invest (and i mean INVEST) in a good electric guitar and amp! besides!.!.!. if you really love music, you will find yourself wanting to play and practice well into the late hours of the evening!.!.!. acoustic guitars rarely get the cops called on you!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Lots of people say beginners should start with the acoustic because it is easier on your hands and makes an easier note to identify!.
I know that you want to play more in the rock genre, but it's going to take you a while to be able to do that anyway,
so you're better off to learn all your notes on the acoustic and then switch the electric :)Www@Enter-QA@Com

just because it's an acoustic guitar doesn't mean it has to be played in only folksongs/country/jazz/etc!. it's an intrument, not a machine!. you can play any genre you want! i've heard rock songs with acoustic guitars in it!.

but you should learn acoustic first!. it's a little bit easier (at least i think)!. after you have acoustic down, you can move on to electric!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

its true you should start with an acoustic!. you can play metalica songs on it, i do on mine!.
if you dont have the $ to upgrade to an electric i would just get an electric then, but it is much harder to learn on!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i know alot of musicians, in fact one of my friends is a really crazy electric guitar player!. i would have to reccomend learning accoustic first, then moving on to electric!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

start on the acoustic first
it's much easier
then work your way up to the electric
acoustic guitar doesn't neccsarally mean you can only play
folk,country,jazzWww@Enter-QA@Com
