Question: R&P!.!.!.Why Nirvana !?
Why does everyone rate them so highly!.!.!.I just don't get it! Their music wasn't anything special it was just simple chords with not so good vocals!.!.!.Don't get me wrong I understand their influence on music but why do people think they are the greatest!.!.!.also if Kurt never died (Rest his soul) do you think they would be as famous as they are now!.!.!.I don't think they would be!.

They were a really good band, but they were never really great!. I wouldn't put them at, say, #27 on a list of the greatest bands ever (ach-HEM, Rolling Stone!.!.!.); I would more either put them at that position on a list of say, the most important bands ever or lower on a list of the best bands ever (I'd say around maybe #90/91 at the very best)!.
also, it was more than just the music; it was about the rock and roll lifestyle!. Kurt Cobain, in my opinion, while no John Lennon, deserves to be ranked with him and others as one of the top "Rock Star Personalities"; not based so much on talent as based on influence and attitude!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Actually, I can understand where you are coming but, I just think that Nirvana is one of the greatest bands ever!. I guess they're popular because they were one of the first bands to bring Alternative rock to the mainstream along with R!.E!.M and The Replacements!. They also have amazing lyrics, in my opinion!. Kurt was an amazing songwriter and had a unique voice!. I really think they ARE something special!. Kurt was the voice of a generation! I think they would be just as famous as they were in the '90s if they were still around!. They would probably continue to change the face of music!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

As a fan, I do have to admit that Kurt's death gave more publicity and attracted more fans to their music!. They WERE the king of grunge, but their popularity was exploded more after Cobain's death!. The Foo Fighters probably wouldn't even exist today!.!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

um possibly because they were the reason grunge started!.!.!.and so what if his music wasnt that great!. have you ever read his lyrics!? obviously not, they have a lot more meaning than you think sure they wouldn't have been as famous as they are now if Kurt never died, but i still like them!. It's because before they got big the world was dominated by ( i forget what was popular at the time) and they brought grunge/alternative into peoples minds and ears, and people were kinda like FINALLY something new and good!.

nirvana was a nice change at the time period which is why everyone loved them!.!.!.they were the first band to be different from our parents generation and they started the rock that is made today

They actually have a great catalogue of songs, great albums and strong B-Sides!. Kurt was a very passionate frontman and Dave an excellent drummer!. If Kurt never died then they prob wouldn't be as famous but they did start a new music wave!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

They may not have been the first grunge band (that title belongs to Mudhoney) but they started the movement!. Kurt Cobain is arguably the best singer ever!. They were just!.!.!. GOOD!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i think you sort of have to relate to what kurt's lyrics are saying to really understand them!.!.!.the chord progressions were very simple and when you look completely objectively kurt wasn't a very good singer, but when you consider the style and sound of their work i think the simplicity and kurt's vocals fit very well!.!.!.they were a band driven by the lyrics and by their messages, even if kurt would often try to deny this
as for kurt's death drawing attention to the band, it's impossible to deny that if he were alive the band wouldn't be quite so popular, but on the same token i think if he had remained alive they would have revolutionized music even more than they already didWww@Enter-QA@Com
