What is the difference between a Line 6 Spider Valve 212 and the 112?!
Question: What is the difference between a Line 6 Spider Valve 212 and the 112!?
I am looking to buy the 212 ( i think) for a band practise amp and gigging live!. I have tried the 212 and it seemed powerful when i was playing it although when i looked at them on the internet is said they were only 40w so i am now worried that it may not be powerful enough!? Anyone got some knowledge you wanna throw at me please ;)Www@Enter-QA@Com

Like the name implies - and this carries over to almost any amp or cabinet manufacturer - the 212 has two 12" speakers, while the 112 has!.!.!.one speaker!.
The amp you pick should be loud enough for >you< to hear onstage when you're playing live - so you should be able to hear yourself over the drummer or another guitarist!. 40 watts will get plenty loud, and should be fine for most cases!. If the places you play are large enough, your guitar amp should be miked and going through a PA!. You should ONLY be concerned with being able to hear yourself and getting the tone you want!.
You can get Marshalls and Mesa Boogies that go from 100 to 150 watts!. Does that mean you need that much power on stage!? No!.
I have some of the power output tubes removed from my guitar amp to reduce the output level, and running into a 212 cabinet I still can't turn it up more than a 1/4-1/3 of the way without pissing off other people in my band and ruining the house PA mix!.
If you're going to be playing on smaller stages where you'll be right in front of your amp, and the amp will be miked through the PA, you might also look into getting a stand that will tilt the amp back and direct the sound at you rather than the audience - this makes a huge difference in stage volume!.
