Close call, but 2001 for me!.
2001 is more refined!. Some of the slickest, tightest, crispest, laid back production I've ever heard on a hip hop record!.
The Chronic is a classic with some massive tunes on it too, but to be honest it was probably a bit before my time (got into 2001 first)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Both albums were great, but I would go with "The Chronic"!. The reason I go with "The Chronic" is because it was turning point in hip hop!. I remember it well, because I lived it!. This album changed the hip hop scene to the West Coast, and this album introduced us to Snoop Dogg, Tha Dogg Pound, and Warren G!. This was also a sound unheard of in hip hop at the time!. It brought funk to a younger audience, and they respected that!. Even East Coast heads were bumping this album!.
Don't get me wrong, "2001" was a great album as well, but "The Chronic" was a WAYYYY bigger influence! Plus, who still bops their head and gets the chills when they hear, "Nuthin' But A G Thang"!?!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

I know I'm in the minority with 2001!. But I do like it better!. I've always been more of a fan of jazz samples (like on xxxplosive) over G-funk!. Plus, when it comes to funk I've always preferred Southernplayalisticadillacmusik to The Chronic!. Again, I'm in the minority there as well!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
