No sharp key before the time signature?!

Question: No sharp key before the time signature!?
Okay!.!. Normally if there are no sharp keys before the time signature then that means that most of the keys will be playing in natural right!? im playing this piece called ave maria for the violin if anybody is familiar with it and the beginning of the piece starts with a B note!. Since there is no sharp key, then does it note begin as B natural!? or B Sharp!. Thanks in advanceWww@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
By rule, B natural!. But it's confusing - I suspect a mistake!. Do you have printed music from a real publisher like G!. Schirmer!?

If it's the usual Bach-Gounod Ave Maria - aka #1, Book One of the Well Tempered Clavier - then you need to check with your teacher or whoever, as that piece is written in C, and there would be no good reason to move it down to G!. (It starts on the third, not the tonic!.) But if they did, there should be one sharp sign, so you may have a mystery there!.
