You must be thinking about Rachmaninoff!.
I looked up "Rachmaninoff deathbed"!.
I couldn't find any mention of Rachmaninoff's last work, but I could find a work by Rachmaninoff which he wanted to have performed for him while he was on his deathbed:

Could this be it!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

It probably was not Rachmaninoff since his last composition, the "Symphonic Dances" was completed in 1940 and he did not die until March of 1943!.

Musician, composer, teacher!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
