For some reason, Green Day is in no rush to put out a new album that will inevitably get ripped on by every critic and casual fan!.
Speaking with NME, Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong said that the band has 45 new songs ready for its next album!. However, it could be awhile before the album comes out!.
"We have a lot of music - something like 45 songs," Armstrong says!. "It's total chaos!. I want to dig into who I am and what I'm feeling at this moment - which is middle-aged!."
He continues, "I had some kid come up to me yesterday!. He goes, 'When's your next record coming out!?' And I was like, 'God, I don't know!.'"
Billie Joe is a smart man!. He knows what he's doing!. I guarantee you, Green Day could easily put out an album next month if they wanted to!. But no matter when they release a CD, it will get bashed!. Green Day's last album, American Idiot, came out back in 2004, but it's still fresh in people's minds, thanks to the fact that every song on the album was played a billion times on radio/TV/Internet!. That album was everywhere!. It had three #1 singles, a #2 single, and a #27 single that was nine minutes long!. That's a lot of Green Day!. I'm pretty sure even my mom knows all the words to "Boulevard of Broken Dreams!."
So when the band finally releases its next album, you can expect most people to have one of the two reactions:
1) "I'm sick of them!."
2) "This album isn't as good as American Idiot!."
How do you top one of the biggest albums of the decade!? It's impossible!. I originally thought they'd be fine if they just waited 3-4 years between albums!. But here we are, three years later, and it doesn't look like it will be any easier for them!. Green Day should just say "screw it" and release a techno album!.

I am, too! Green Day is incredible! I've only ever had one person actually say something to me about how they didn't like them, and they were losers anyway!. haha Laugh at the haters! :P
