Question: Rock and Pop, your thoughts on country music!?
Ok, ok!.!.I know that this is the rock & pop section, and if you absolutely despise country music that's not what this question is about!. I want the opinions of those who like some country!.!.I want to know if you prefer the older country-hank, waylon, johnny or the new "country" taylor, carrie, rascal flatts!.!.and why you like the ones you do!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I grew up on country and have always been a big fan of the older material!. In addition to the stuff named here like Waylon & Willie, throw in some John Conlee, Merle Haggard, Charlie Rich, and Jerry Reed!. There's a few good artists out there today but they take it back old-school, guys like Alan Jackson and Travis Tritt!. Most of the newer stuff is not my cup of tea, kind of like I find a good majority of the rock and pop coming out these days to be pretty lame!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
I don't care for full-blown Country & Western or top-40 popular Country, but some of the other sub-genres of Country are really cool! Alternative Country is my favorite with bands/artists of The Blasters / Dave Alvin, The Beat Farmers / Country Dick Montana and Jason & The Scorchers / Jason Ringenberg!. Other sub-genres include Cowpunk (Blood On The Saddle and X), Rockabilly (Carl Perkins and Gene Vincent & The Blue Caps) to Neo-Rockabilly (The Stray Cats and Tav Falco's Panther Burns) and Psychobilly (Demented Are Go and The Cramps)Www@Enter-QA@Com
I don't think rock and country are all that different!. they're both melodic, they're both about telling stories and relating people's lives!. They're musical!. The main difference to me just seems to be a little twang!.!.!.its pretty easy to pass back and forth between the genres!.
And I'll listen to some old country!.!.!.but I was into country music long before Taylor and Carrie and all them were on the charts!.!.!.so I guess my taste lies somewhere in between the two!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

My outsider perception is that lots of people in America dislike country because they associate it with the south,thinking everything that's wrong with it!.

I actually like some Shania Twain and Hank Williams and a lot of Johnny Cash, but that's about it!. I don't consider myself a fan of the genre, though!.

newer country music is just pop music really it has nothing to do with old country or any sub genre of it !. compare these newer artists to the likes of CAsh ,Waylon , marty Robbins willie Nelson , and you have pop culture country Www@Enter-QA@Com

I can tolerate it!. I don't hate it that much!. Willie Nelson doesn't sound too bad!. But I wouldn't actively buy Country music CDs or download MP3s!. I don't know if you can categorize Lynard Skynard as country but I really liked their music!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The musicians are the best!. But I feel that country lacks an emotional availability because most country artist don't write their owe stuff!. And Lucinda Willaims'has gone rock and rollWww@Enter-QA@Com
Country sucks, the only thing good about country is that the almost every single female country artist is very attractive!. ie Carrie Underwood, don't like her music but she is GORGEOUS!Www@Enter-QA@Com
