Question: Why are people so snobbish when it comes to music!?
Why can't people just listen to whatever sounds good to them, whether or not it is mainstream or underground, cool or dorky!? How can someone truly be themselves if they only listen to one genre, or bands that are held in high esteem!. I for one feel that music is a very personal thing!. You should listen to what makes you feel good and a person's individual taste in music should reflect their individual personalities!. Why should I be made to feel ashamed that whenever the song mmmbop comes on I sing along because it takes me back to being a kid!? I think that if I didn't, then I wouldn't be being myself!. I'd rather be myself and a dork than a poser with a "great taste in music"!. So why are so many people snobs about music!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm completely with you!. The best artists become that way by mixing different genres together to form things that are completely original!. Leave the labels to Warhol, the only thing it hurts is the music!.!.!.
And I think that a lot of the reason that the music injdustry is circling the drain right now is because of such "music snobs"!. I'm not saying that there isn't music that I find stupid, but if someone else enjoys it and it makes them feel something special then what place do I have to criticize that, seriously!?
And yeah, there are bands that I listened to as a "tween" that I look back on now and think quietly to myself, "and just how much arsenic was on that playground!?", but that's a part of who we are as individuals, it's like every photograph I have of myself from eight grade that makes me squirm!. Music is growth, and at the moment we're so afraid to pollute it that we're poisoning it!.
To me, I always find it ridiculous when people get mad at "posers"!. They get mad when a band gets "popular", they say things about how posers only like a band because it's popular!. Well isn't NOT liking a band because it's popular just as bad, maybe worse, because now not only are you still a "poser" yourself, but your also a hypocrite!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Non-Posers feel threatened by the music they don't like!. There is always the fear that if they don't praise the music they like and put down the music they don't, people will gradually shift to the music he/she doesn't like!. If this happens then the music which he/she likes will no longer be produced in the quality that he/she has come to expect because bands which would have a great future in that genre choose the more popular one to make music!.

It's not that!. It has to do with all the other shite these bands partake in and what they do!. Like My Chemical Romance being sell-outs and the Disney bands just making money and capitalizing on little kid's naivety!. It has to do with the MTV connotation and the demeanor of these bands!. They're not being snobs, they just really take pride in their bands and what they stand for!. This probably makes no sense!. Music snobs don't bother me, I couldn't care less!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
It doesn't necessarily have to be a case of 'snobbery',it can simply be about being eclectic!.
I'd suppose you could more or less get into anything you listened to 24/7 if it was being broadcasted through a radio station or MTV,but it's about choosing what you will listen to and get to like using your own criteria!.
Catchy pop tunes may appeal to me from time to time,but I will choose to spend my time exploring other bands and/or genres that I believe may have to offer a better experience!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i totally agree with you!!! People need to quit being stuck up about music!. Is it ok that I like something you don't like!? Doesn't this go along with being unique!? Don't they teach you that in primary school!? that whole "What if everyone was exactly the same!? How boring would that be!?" I try not to be snobby, I just don't listen to anything nu-metal or anything core, or country (cept Johnny Cash)!. Otherwise, I'm open to anything!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I completely agree with what you're saying!. All of my friends are well aware of the fact that I have a very eclectic taste in music and I try to make it well-known wherever I go that I let music is an outlet for my personality!. I hate to see people rushing around and buying CDs just because they've been raving about a musician that they're not even that familiar with and need solid evidence to back up their ranting!. It's ridiculous!. It's pop culture!. That's why I pride myself on being able to find good music that I like before and without the help of MTV!. well if u like something listen to it!. I think people sometimes listen to one genre because maybe a lot of bands that play in that genre make them feel better maybe they relate to a lot of songs in that genre!. I mainly listen to rock but i still listen to different types of music i don't really like rap or hip hop that much because i don't see a message in it that i can relate to or i find interesting!. I wouldn't say people are being snobbish about the music they listen to I think everyone just has their opinion and are going to stand by their opinion just like u would on anything else but if u like the music u listen to then that should be all that matters your the one listening to it so don't worry about what other people think about the music u listen to and the music they listen to either way its still music!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I was about halfway through my freshman year when I went through it!.!.!. I just decided one day that I was pissed off at the world, and the only think I was going to listen to was screaming guitars and shouting singers!. But, over that following summer I just realized it wasn't worth it, and got over it!.
Some people just have a difficult time trying to find themselves, and some people are just in denial that they are ever going to change, or to blind to realize that what music they DON'T like isn't what is important!.
I know, I've been told hundreds of times my music sucks for being lame (My Chem sucks according to some Punk lifestyle kids, apparently) or that it's to hardcore (and Evanescence is to much to handle for some kids who are into Miley Cyrus) I mean!.!.!. I understand someone's tastes, but that whole "my music is better than your's" is really irritating!.!.!. thus, I just think it's a mind set, that if you want to think your tougher, you listen to tougher stuff, and nothing else is good enough for you, or you want to seem sweet, and anything outside of pop is too heavy, or you're a total "G" and you can't shoot people with guitars!.!.!. I mean, whatever!.!.!.
It's just a big mass of blocky, messy, mind-sets!.
I make an effort not to criticize anyone's tastes unless I'm asked!. I just genuinely think that people are convinced in their own minds, it creates difference in the world!.!.!. and thus, the world turns!.
It's just really difficult for me to explain my thoughts in one massive message! It's eating away at my brain!

Music is personal, that is why some appeals to certain individuals and doesn't to others because it strikes a chord with you and that is what mattters!. How you feel about it!. You shouldn't be mde to feel odd or any less of a person because of your own personal tastes!. SOme people have egos and think they have a right to inflict their personal choices on others or sway others to their own perspectives but they can't; it is a perspective and open to interpretation!. Freedom of choice of expression is yours and because it is a personal choice, other's opinion's should not be put on you unless you choose to open yourself to curiosity of others opinion's!. You have the right to listen to and like whatever it is you choose to for your own reasons!. If others put you down for it, they are jut being disrespectful of your freedom of choice and someone that would do that, I don't think deserves a response from you!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
