I got in a huge car crash when I was 16 [flipped it over twice] and basically the same thing happened in the song, I flipped when I went to the left to avoid the right!. But I was incredibly lucky and didn't get hurt or kill anybody [I was the only one involved]!. But yeah this just strikes a cord with me and always makes me cry and be thankful nothing worse happened!.
