I'd say it all depends on the bar and the crowd!.
If your crowd tends to be a bit older (late 40s-50s soccer Moms and Dad having fun on the weekend while kids are at the sitter's) then I'd consider these:

Elvis Presley "Love me Tender"
Animals "House of the Rising Sun"
Roy Orbison "Oh, Pretty Woman" (I'll bet you could make a nice flamenco-ish arrangement for this as a ballad!.!.!.)
Beatles "Help!","Yesterday","Rocky Racoon" (if you want a more daring pick!.!.)
The Vogues "Five O'Clock World" (younger people might know this from Drew Carey as well)

If they're a little younger or hipper Moms and Dads (30s-early 40s), try:
