He used two ruses:
1) He persisted with his studies at the Paris Conservatoire studies so that he could get away with one year's military service instead of the usual five - even though he hated studying, was lazy and got terrible reports from the professors there!.
2) In April 1887 Satie deliberately contracted bronchitis to get himself invalided out of the army for that remaining year!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
