I love the tune to the song and that the words are all metaphors to something bigger, but I just can't figure it out!. Anyone out there good at interpreting poems and lyrics!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

i think the song is about ruling life!. viva la vida is like saying long live life, and the song takes you back into time, the kings of the past!. more biblical in the sense that it talks about the pillars of salt and of sand (lot and his wife), jerusalem (the town jesus entered where the crowd were praising him), roman cavalry (the battles that were fought in a foreign place where they'd have the praise of the crowd cheering them on), and about saint peter, who through his letters, urged his readers to live as people who belong to christ!. in that way, god's chosen people!. those that suffer for their faith!. it's like saying that although they lived a life of praise and glory, a life without suffering, a life of sin, a life of war instead of peace, a life where they felt like they were rulers of their own world, they loved being in control of their own world!. their own destiny!. the start of the song is more about looking back on those memories, and although they know that when the time comes where god's chosen people are announced and that their names won't be called out, they lived a great life, and for that, they give praise and shout out 'long live life'Www@Enter-QA@Com
