Question: Why did Johnny Cash play in prisons!?
For my year 12 assignment I am writing an opinionated article on political artists and songs!. I picked johnny cash's song 'man in black' but I'm finding it difficult to find political activities he may have been involved in!.
It is quite interesting that he played in prisons though and I'm hoping to use that in my article if I just knew why he did! For a political reason!? I just can't pinpoint why!. I know he was fond of redemption and perhaps played in prisons to get that message across but is that political!?!?

Alora, Cash found that a good portion of his fan mail came from prisons!. For some reason, His music seemed to speak to the people in prison and they let him know that!. He decided that prisoners needed an outlet, so he chose to play there!. For the record, Johnny Cash was NEVER in prison!.

He used to be in prison!. He wasn't political at all, but he took a lot of prescription drugs and ended up in jail a couple of times for one night at a time!.
Playing in prison was more about cultivating a commercial image of being a reprobate which suited the music style and needs of the audience at the time!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Mainly just because of his song "Folsum Prison", which actually had nothing to do with him being in prison!. He found some respect for the men there, and played for them !.!.!.he was a rebel back then, and that followed him because he was considered "crazy" for playing to such menWww@Enter-QA@Com
