What is the best Gibson Les Paul or Sg to buy?!

I want to buy a new Gibson Les Paul or Sg that is under about 2500!. I will be getting at a store such as Guitar Center or from a good friend that sells it as cheap as places like musicians friend!. Can you guys please help me and suggest the proper model!. To me I love the Les Paul but I don't know the differences between each one!. The Sg I know is lighter and good also!.
