There was a song on the radio from years ago I think is named Lori. Who sings it!

The song is about a guy who goes to a dance and meets a girl named Lori!. He walks her home after the dance and she tells him it is her birthday!. He asked if he would see her again and she asks for his sweater saying she's very cold!. He left her at her door and started home but remembers his sweater and went back to her house!. He knocks at her door and a man appears!. He told why he came and the man says "You're wrong son, you weren't with my daughter cause she died on her birthday a year ago today!."
There is a last verse to the song that says something about the guy ending up in a cemetery and he finds his sweater on a tombstone!. When he picks it up he sees the name on the tombstone is Lori!.
I've known this song all my life (I'm 52) but I don't remember ever hearing the song!. My mother says she's never heard of the song!. I've met one person in my life who knew the song and his story is the same as mine!. He can't remember ever hearing the song and doesn't know where he knows it from!. Does anyone know anything about this song!? Who sang it!? When it came out!? Or the lyrics!? I think I know all the words except the last verse!.
