Question: In need of serious help with french horn problem!!?
hi, i am in 7th grade and play the double french horn in my school band!. school starts in a week so i decided to get out the horn and start playing a little to work up my embouchure!. it has sat all summer but before i packed it away i cleaned it, washed out all the valves and did full maintenance!. i got it out and the finger valves are sticking and wont move at all!. i checked the valves and they were bone dry so i greased them up but they still wont budge!. if anyone can give me any help i would greatly appreciate it!. thank youWww@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
I hope you didn't really use grease on your valves!. You should only use valve oil on the valves!. First remove the valve caps and put a drop of oil where the valve rotates(if this is where you used grease then clean it off)!. If they still don't move then carefully remove the tuning slides (one at a time is probably best) and put several drops of valve oil in the horn so the oil will get on each valve inside!. Wait 5-10 minutes and try moving the valves again!. You might try this one more time, but if the valves still refuse to move, you should have your director or an instrument repairman remove the valves and clean them!. Do not try removing them yourself!.

You can try to put oil on the keys and see if that helps!. If that don't work try wetting a washcloth and wipe the keys because they could be rusted!. And if that don't work, ask your music teacher about it!. I'm sure he/she can figure out what it is!. Good Luck!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
