Why do British singers always sound American?!

Question: Why do British singers always sound American!?
Everytime I hear British singers like Leona Lewis or Natasha Bedingfield they don't have their accents when singing but in interviews they do!. Do they do this on purpose or what!?Www@Enter-QA@Com
