What has happened to my voice?!

Question: What has happened to my voice!?
For years I have always had a high, powerful voice!. I could reach high notes easily, and was considered a soprano, even though I have never taken classes!. I went 5 or six months without singing, and now when I try to, my voice is totally different!. It is deep and low!. I couldn't hit those notes that I used to to save my life!. I don't smoke, so that can't be it!. And it cracks!. Any ideas!? Www@Enter-QA@Com

Years ago when I started singing professionally I sometimes had to do a couple of gigs in a row!. To my surprise I found that the nights I had no gigs (rested) seem to affect my voice the next time I went on stage!. It was then that I discovered that just like going to gym after a couple of weeks of not attending and having to get fit again, your voice is also a muscle and needs exercise!. Now do not confuse exercise with excessive use, because that would do some serious damage!. also remember that warming up a muscle is also one of the most important things to do!. The best way to do this is by closing you mouth and making a soft M sound!. Do these for about 10 minutes before you start singing, which will already make a world of difference to which notes you will be able to reach and which you won’t!. Your goal is to take it slow, day by day and try to get your voice “Fit “again, and once it gets to that point, try and keep it in shape!. After a couple of mouths of exercise you should be back to your old self!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Maybe you could try do some vocal warm up before you sing again!.
try using a staccato (short) "ha-ha-ha" on 1-3-5 of a scale is to encourage its onset and flexibility!. There are many singers that use a variety of vowels, consonants, or arpeggios to "warm" the voice; or vowel balancing as in rapid "me-may-mah-mo-mu," or balancing "registers" as in sung single vowels on 1-5-6-5-1, etc!.
these techniques may actually be encouraging articulatory precision

either puberty or the age old saying: "if you don't use it, you lose it!." personally I find that without daily exercise I can't perform after a while!. I suggest you find a regiment to help you work the vocal chords BEFORE you sing!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

unexercised vocal chords tend to shrink singing regularly stretches them out and helps you reach higher notesWww@Enter-QA@Com

i think you just need to start practicing and singing on a more consistent basis now!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
