How has your music taste changed over the years?!

Question: How has your music taste changed over the years!?
Bonus: how do you think it will continue to change!?

MA: At first I listened to pop rock stuff, but I got really tired of it and lately I've gotten heavier in my music taste (Death Metal) and I love my 90s bands like Alice in Chains and Soundgarden!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

Hehe,interesting question!.

I got into the rock realm when I was 13,that would be 6 years ago, with nu metal, which was very popular at the time-I think lots of kids started listening to rock this way!.I got tired of it and of everyone bashing me as well(hohoho,I was only 13 for God sake's!)and I did my research and discovered black, death, and grindcore metal, which I was headbanging to for about half a year--then I discovered Led Zeppelin and I was all about classic rock and heavy metal!.I went through a jazz/classical music phase as well, which was very rewarding, and now I'm back to discovering post-punk and goth rock!.

Out of all those genres I've stopped listening only to nu metal and I cannot say I am in the mood for discovering new grindcore and death metal bands(although I do get my fix of black metal from time to time)!.

I've always thought that going through different phases in different aspects of your life and living each one whilst enjoying it as much as you will,is what makes life interesting!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Absolutely!. I loved all kinds of music and do today!. Probably less metal than I once did but it's all good!. I like country more today with a rock twist like Eric Church's--How About You!?

The most radical change will be through online purchasing of music like Itunes!. This is a dramatic part of music that is going to knock out music stores to the point that few will survive!. IPod's are going to be more and more dominant and buying music will be via a song at a time with the buyer making their own CD or album!. This is a huge change!. Collossal!.

A lot more variety will emerge in music as you'll have more indie labels!.

The internet will be am unwieldy area for record companies to control!. This will help more music be available but there will be less big companies!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

wow!. great quesiton!. about a 2 years ago i was listening to pop and rap mostly because it was on a really bad radio station for my area but then i started listening to linkin park mostly which led me into emo, a little punk, metal, screamo and a bunch of other stuff but now im listening to emo, punk, a little metal, a little screamo, and alternative mostly!. i have a feeling this might stick for a little while but i dont know whats nextWww@Enter-QA@Com

When I was in junior high and high school I would only listen to punk rock and indie rock!. I hated on anything else!. Now that I'm a bit older, I don't listen to as much punk (its really a young person's genre) but I am way into indie rock!. My taste has broadened as well since I've gotten married, as my husband listens to a lot of hip hop and R&B!. My favorite hip hop group is Atmosphere!. I still have a hard time listening to R&B (its just too slow and much of the singing is annoying)!. Maybe by the time I'm 30 my taste will change much more!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

My parents listened to mainly country, so during elementary school I listened to mostly country and some old rock (though during first grade I went through a rebellious stage listening to nothing but Britney Spears, NSYNC and Backstreet Boys)!. My middle school years were filled with mostly rap and whatever everyone else listening too, and now I'm mostly into pop punk/alternative stuff!. I figure that's how it will stay for quite some time, though my tastes have already developed into liking some grunge!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

well!.!.!. when I was 8 I loved Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera!. and other pop stuff like that!. when I was 13 I started listening to Green Day and other rock-pop-punk!. when I got to 14 I started listening to The Clash and punk whick I still do now!. I'm 16 now and I love Morrissey and The Smiths!.
Generally I like indie and rock but also pop!. I don't really like modern music though!. I'm sure it will continue to change but I don't think I will ever like Death metal or something like that!. too loud for me!. I like music with meaningfull lyrics I can understand and nice melody!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It's changed a LOT!. for the better!.

As a baby I listened to what was on in the car (Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, GnR, Iron Maiden)
Young as hell years: I liked mainstream (I feel so dirty)
At age 6-9: I liked bands like Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, Blink182, Green Day, Sum 31
10-12: green Day blink182, sum41, all kinda of different metal!.
then I hit a punk phase recently then I stopped it because punk is annoying!. Then a grunge phase!.
13: Grunge and every kind of metal pretty much, and I like Green Day and Blink182 and Sum 41 still!.

So I am pretty versatile with my rock music, but I can be picky!. But I don't listen to mainstream, thank God!Www@Enter-QA@Com

i have changed so mush not just in music but everything!.!.

but in music i used to listen to rap and hip hop you know like 50 cent and lil wayne!.!.!.i think that is how it is spelled idk!.

but know i listen to rock and stuff like that

i dont think it will change because i really like the lyrics that have meaning and most of the songs i listen to do!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

When i was younger my parents were into Classical, Hymns, and really slow Pop music!.!.
Because i grew up with that, that is what i was used to!.

One day i was changing channels on the tv and put in a Rock Channel, changed my life forever, it took me off my feet!. It was Smashing Pumpkins, and i have loved them ever since, thank-you SP!.

Changed my life!.!. and hell, im glad about it!.

Im into things like; Led Zeppelin, Def Leppard, Smashing Pumpkins, Guns 'N Roses!.!.!. You name it!.!. From the old too the new im addicted to it, Like a drug!Www@Enter-QA@Com

awesome question :)
well, in 3rd grade i was all britney spears and nsync, (i know)
and then middle school i liked rap for a year, then country, and now i'm all rock, but the funny thing is, i've ALWAYS loved rock, even in my boy band phase, i guess its bacause i grew up with it, i don't think i'll ever get sick of rock, maybe i'll learn to like some bands that i hate now, or the other way around

p!.s i still love alice in chains and soundgardenWww@Enter-QA@Com

Well I liked a bunch of generic pop and stuff from ages 5-12!. I liked a little classic rock though too!. Then I liked Panic! At The Disco and Green Day!. But I also got into Led Zeppelin (weird combination!)!. Then when I was about 14 I was a really big MCR fan!. I kind of lost steam on them (don't hate them, they're just not a favorite anymore) and now I like a lot of classic rock, post hardcore, alternative, industrial and I'm starting to get into metal!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

When I was younger I really didn't listen to music, but then I got into rock, and I like Heart, Queen, Soundgarden, Guns N' Roses, Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Metallica, Pantera, Alice In Chains, Poison, Skid Row, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Ozzy Osbourne, Tom Petty, Black Sabbath, Dio, Foo Fighters, and MANY, MANY, MORE!\

lol Eight misspellings from the bands!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

it has changed DRAMATICALLY
i listened to *shudder* mainstream a few years ago!.

i seem to go back in time as my taste changes!.

ha, soon i'll probably be into 20s music!
not really, pink floyd, zeppelin, and the doors will always and forevermore be my favoritesWww@Enter-QA@Com

I'm like you!. I started out listening pretty much exclusively to feel-good oldies and light rock!. But now, I'm listening to a lot more hard rock (both old and modern); indie rock; punk; New Wave, and techno!. Sometimes, I even listen to rap music -- which I'd never thought I'd ever do!. Who knows how my taste will continue to evolve as I grow older!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

I was brought up listing to Country Music and old Rock And Roll!. I still listen and favor Country and the oldies but I do listen to Soft Rock and some Pop Music!. I think as music changes like Country Music has I will continue to find music new music that is close to Country music Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm definitely more open minded and keen on learning the history of music and the roots of rock!. The purpose of music evolution is to discover and recognize the new and different sounds!.
I like heavier things than I used to!. And I also love my 90's rock bands!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
