Vibrato and Choir....?!

Question: Vibrato and Choir!.!.!.!.!?
Now, I start school in a couple of days and I have chorus as an elective!. (Fun xD) Anyways, I'm clueless about the whole thing, as I've never been in a choir before, or any singing group for that matter!. Anyways, vibrato!. Yes, something you just have or you can learn!. Me, I just have it - heredity!. I've never had singing lessons, or been taught to, my mom/grandma have great voices so I guess I just picked it up some talent upon birth!. (Enough bragging before I'm slapped lol) I want to know, in choir is it good using vibrato!? I really don't know how much of it I should use!.!.!.or if I should use it at all!? Would it make me stick out, negatively!? Or is it something that won't affect the choir as a group negatively, and we'll all live happily ever after!? (is using a bit sarcasm XD)

And to give you more of a back story, I'm a 14-year old boy who loves to sing! (In the shower that is >>) I'm really shy when it comes to other people, even family!. The only one who has ever heard me sing is my best friend, and she likes it!. But!.!.!.!.I dunno, I'm just scared for some reason!. I think I got natural talent (I don't mean to seem conceited or anything, I apologize if you're taking it that way) and I have potential, but I still have a long ways to go to develop my voice!. (Poor thing needs to be trained!) Anyways, yeah, I think I'm a tenor (after doing extensive research on choir-type stuff) So if you could ever so kindly share any tips about overcoming that fear of singing in front of people, I'd really appreciate it!. But yeah, I thank everyone who is sharing their opinion/knowledge with me, god bless and thank you very much!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well, having a vibrato is definitely a good thing!. You can use your vibrato all the time, depending on the song or what your director wants!. It might make you stick out at first, but people will appreciate it!. (especially your director!) It won't affect the choir at all!. In fact, (if you're not tone-deaf, which I highly doubt) it may improve the choirs performance! You'll be able to help the other tenors out by keeping them on key!. BTW, if you're a tenor, then you can sing high!. I'm sure you already knew that, but I'm just filling you in!.

As for being nervous, everyone is nervous at first!. But just remember that you're singing as a group and you're all in it together (not HSM pun intended!.) I get nervous when I go onstage, but once you get through the first song, it's a breeze!. In fact, singing in front of a crowd is one of the best parts of being in a choir!.

You're going to make a whole bunch of new friends in chorus!. It's a lot of fun, but still requires work!. You may want to try out for your school's musical or plays (if they have any) Here's something to remember: It's not new; it's just new to you!. My mom always tells me that and it helps me a lot!. I hope everything goes okay for you!. God bless!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Vibrato should be natural never forced!. You can control it and your teacher will tell you if it becomes too much!. A choir needs to blend and not sound like individual voices singing together, but as one voice!. Only use it naturally, don't use vibrato to show off!. If you have a solo you can do what you want, but in a choir keep it to a minimum!. Don't use straight tone either unless your director wants that sound!. I'm glad to hear that you like singing! Keep it up!Www@Enter-QA@Com
