It helps to be able to count to 4!. :-)
To notate these, you write
1,2,3,4, 1,2,3,4,, and so-on!.
Listen to any average song and most likely it will be in 4/4 time!.
You star off by hitting the bass drum, then one of the floor toms or cymbals to get a rhythm going like this:
boom, chuck, boom, chuck!.
Your basic rock beat will be like this:
boom, chuck and, boom, chuck!.
Another way to notate that is: 1, 2+!. 3, 4!.
Some are in 3/4 time, though, which means 3 "quarter note" beats per bar!.
These are usually "waltz time!." numbers!.
The bass is hit on the 1 beat, and something like the close high-hats on the 2 and 3!.
Waltzes can be thought of as " boom, chuck, chuck, boom, chuck, chuck!."
Try searching YouTube videos for drum lessons!. They've got almost everything else up there, including Trigonometry lessons, or how-to's on building rammed earth houses!.!.!.!.
I learned how to tune a tenor ukulele from YouTube!.
