Do you mean best song by The Doors!? Jim Morrison is not The Doors, and it is not Jim Morrison and The Doors, it is just The Doors!. The other three hardly get any credit or attention for what they have done, most people don't even know their names or anything about them!. Without the actual musicians in The Doors you would have no band and no music, just a bunch of poetry and words written by Jim, which is great but doesn't make a band!. All of those musicians are great yet they never even get credit for their doings, which is the main thing that shaped the band and give them their unique sound!. also, Jim always disliked when the other members weren't addressed when the band as a whole was introduced or spoken about, he wanted them to receive their credit as being extremely talented musicians, something that he wasn't (but never tried to be or claim he was) Sorry, maybe you just meant a Jim written song rather than a Robby written song!. also this "rant" was not directly aimed at you, just the mass of people that don't seem to differentiate between Jim Morrison as a person and The Doors as a band, and don't seem to even credit the others (since I play a couple of instruments I may be more biased towards the musical aspect)
However, my favorite song is Not To Touch The Earth!. Plus, they read like a poem which I always like in a song lyric!. All together the song conjures an image, a sort of mysterious yet unknown feeling, but a journey or an adventure!. The lyrics are the type that could be interpreted in many ways so different people could take different thing away from the song!. All together I think the song is a great mix of music, lyric, and theme; it's actually difficult to describe what makes it so great but I think once it is heard it is ultimately understood, it is the type of thing that is difficult to verbalize or explain!.
