Answers:
Yep!. A guitar tab is a way of showing you which notes to play in order to play a particular piece of music!.

It has 6 lines on it like this

-----------------
-----------------
------------------
-----------------
-----------------
------------------

Each one of these represents a string on your guitar!. The bottom one is your low E string (the thickest one) and the top one is your high E (the thinnest string) - the others represent the strings in between - A, D, G, B!.

On each line there might be a number!. That shows you which fret to put your finger on for that string!. So for example,

--------------------------
-------------------------
--------3----------------
--------------------------
--------------------------
--1----------------------

means play your low E with your finger on the first fret, then play your G string with your finger on the 3rd fret, and so on!.

A 0 on a string means just play it open (without your finger on any fret)!.

Sometimes there will be other more complicated things on there like pull-offs and hammer-ons but if you are a beginner you don't really need to worry about those yet!.

Hope this helps!Www@Enter-QA@Com

A tab is a graphical representation of which frets to hold down to get each chord or note!. If the number on the string say 0 it is open, 1 is the first fret and so on!. More than one number in a column means a chord!. Then there are letters such as H or P, which means to hammer on (the note is played by hitting the fretboard rather than plucking) or Pull off (remove finger from fret but dont pluck)!.

Not all tabs are exactly the same, but they all give a good approximation to the song and are easier to read than standard music (if you dont know how to read it)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Guitar tab is like written music for the guitar!. it is written in six horizontal lines, representing the strings of the guitar!. Numbers represent the frets you should be playing!. The bottom line represents the Low E string, the top line represents the high E string!. it's essentially upside down!.

example:

G Chord in tab:

--3--
--0--
--0--
--0--
--2--
--3--

All the strings show numbers at the same position, so you would strum the chord once!.

now if it were a picking pattern, it might look something like this:

--------------------3--
-----------------0-----
-------------0---------
----------0------------
------2----------------
--3--------------------

read the tab from left to right, so you'd play the low E string third fret, then the A string second fret, D string open, et!. Cetera!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

You read a guitar tab with numbers!. The numbers stand for the frets!. Like if it was a 2 it would be played on the second fret!. And where the number stands thats what string you will play the note on!.
------2--2--2--2--2--
-------------------------
-------------------------
-------------------------
--------------------------
--------------------------
if you saw this you with play first string(high e) second fret!. And it will be played 5 times!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
