To all who would say that Elvis and other musicians in the 50's created rock and roll, take a little listen to what they did, and to what is there now!. There is a massive difference between what Elvis was doing and what The Who and The Rolling Stones did!.

American Rock and Roll, which was created from Delta Blues in the 50s, died in the early 60's!. It survives somewhat to this day as a genre called "rockabilly" but not many people listen to it!. The Rock and Roll we listen to today is descended from British Rock, which was also created from Delta Blues, it was not influenced by American Rockers, it started independently!. American Rock It essentially died when the Beatles came to America!.

At the same time, across the pond, three bands were just getting around to Delta Blues, and they were influenced to start their own bands!. The first band was The Rolling Stones, who in turn influenced two other bands, The Kinks, and The Who!.

Of those three bands, it was The Who that created the first true Rock and Roll song, as it survives today!. My Generation!. Before that song, it was all pop, after My Generation, we had bands like Black Sabbath, Rush, and Led Zeppelin popping up, not to mention the Punk movement!.

The Beatles created pop!. The Rolling Stones perfected it, The Kinks made the first 3-Minute Pop Single, and The Who took all that and made the first Rock record!.

Those 4 bands are all legendary and everything that came after owes a lot to them, not to mention that they all crossed the sea and made British Rock something Americans could take part in too, like The Doors!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

Wow, i completely agree with everything you've wrote there except for The Beatles!. Everyone I know loves them, all my friends, my parents, everyone I know likes The Beatles, but for some reason I really don't!. I've listened to their stuff over and over and I just can't like it!. But as far as the rest of your list goes I couldn't agree more!. Except on my list AC/DC is up there since the song Back in Black was the song that got me into music, when i was 11!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Good Good you put Axl Rose in the mix!!! Guns n Roses were the ones that created One in A million (NO pun intended) lol Hard kick A$$ music from the 80's and early 90's!. No one in my mind can even come close to Axl Rose's talent and voice!!!! Slash kick a$$ solo's and riffs inspired me to pick up the guitar! And everytime I hear Axl sing still to this day gets me all weak in the knees! And when Axl comes out with his new album it will change rock music history yet again!!!!!!!!! Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'd say blink 182, they influenced punk rock immensely!. And they showed the world that the difficulty of the song isn't what matters!. They demonstrated how some of the greatest songs can be basic bar chords with lyrics that can connect with the everyday person!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Ok I'm just going to do one because I'm tired and want to go to bed!. :P
