Does a classic album have to be somewhat conceptual?!

Question: Does a classic album have to be somewhat conceptual!?
Can an album be a classic without having something that connects all of the songs together, or can it just be a collection of great songs that don't necessarily have anything in common!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm glad you asked this!.!.!.

Everyone says Canibus needs a concept but I disagree!. I think he can pull off a Classic with Production and Lyrics!.!.!.

He doesn't need a concept to do it!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

No, I don't think it needs to have a concept!. Raising Hell didn't have one and it's a classic!.

edit: Good point!. I still don't think it needs it!. I want to hear a collection of great tracks on an album, plain and simple!. If they've go a running theme, cool, if they don't, equally cool - as long as the beats and the lyrics are on point!. I don't think Like Water For Chocoalte was particularly conceptual, but it's still a classic album imo!.

edit2 - I didn't see RHK had already said that, sorry! Well, I cosign!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

To many of my classics wouldn't be classics if that were the case!. An album is a classic when it has lasting significance, and can endure time!. By the way there won't be many classics from the current era!. They are becoming few and far between!. I need some Detox asap!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I dont think Common's "Be" was a great conceptual album but I think it was a great all around album!. (2 short thou)

It was a collection of good music that sounded a little better then a "best of" CD!.

Still classic in my eyes!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

No

"Like Water For Chocolate" wasn't conceptualWww@Enter-QA@Com

most albums i consider a classic don't have a concept!.!.!. at least i dont think they doWww@Enter-QA@Com
