Here's the problem!. The Tom Delonge Strat comes with Fender "F" type vintage tuners on it!. I absolutely loathe F type tuners!.

I always had problems with them!. They have this God-awful slit in them rather than a normal hole!. The string would never stay in the tuner when I was trying to wind it up!. It would just pop out unless I held it down with one hand and wound with the other - which was really awkward!. That didn't always work, either!. 8 times out of 10, the string still managed to pop out!.

I had 'em on my '72 Tele Custom Reissue!. What I did was simply get new tuners!. I upgraded to locking Spertzels and never looked back!.

But, if you can't afford to do that, you are just going to have to wrestle with them like I did!. God, I hate F type tuners!. If a guitar has them on it, I consider that a MAJOR black mark against it because I know they will have to be changed immediately!.

They say you can put the string end down in the hole in the middle of the tuner and then wind it up, but that never worked for me!.

Sorry!. Just get new tuners with normal holes in them!. You will be happier in the long run!. Even cheap crappy ones are better than F types IMHO!.

If you're changing the strings you're self & you don't know what you're doing, that's a bad thing!. Take it to a music store!. Ask if they do it free, I work at Marathon Music!. & we do it for free!. E-mail me if you have any questions!. I play guitar, drums, piano, & violin!. So I know what I'm talking about!. :]Www@Enter-QA@Com
