Band bombshell -- what should I do?!

Question: Band bombshell -- what should I do!?
I joined the most amazing band in May!. We hit it off right away and we're all good friends!. We had seriously big plans, connections, it was all going amazingly well!. The problem of my voice had come up once before when quite an important guy in the music business said it "wasn't right" for the band and "didn't have enough power"!. I was gutted but have been improving it!. Recently I had self confidence issues, but people (musicians) reassured me that I did have a good voice!. I even took up bass guitar for the band and it really couldn't have been going any better!. I contributed a lot of ideas and was going to be the lyricist!.

However, today -- literally 10 minutes ago, the guitarist and my good friend totally threw me into confusion by telling me he didn't think I had the right voice for the band and they might have to find another vocalist!. He knew my desire to be in an all female band (but it really wasn't an issue) and told me my voice was more suited to a "Fall Out Boy type band"!. Now I really love FOB, and I do kina sound like Patrick Stump whereas they are more into Nirvana and Paramore (which I do love)!. We had slightly different music tastes but it seemed to work!. I couldn't really understand where this had come from and was rendered speechless!. He just left the conversation (via MSN) and I was still VERY confused and upset!.

My good friend who knows the band and me would usually deal with this situation but I can't speak to her right now!.

It doesn't help that the band has become a big thing in my life and I sacrificed a lot to be part of it!. I even thought of jeopardizing my future career plans because we really could have gone somewhere!. I don't know if I was naive or stupid for putting so much dedication into the band, but it really hurts emotionally!. I don't know why, but I feel betrayed!.

How should I deal with the situation!?

Detailed answers please, I'm feeling like a wreck right now!.

Thank you so much!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Sorry to hear about the band problems!. It's a shame the rest of the band didn't have the courage to talk to you about it face-to-face, as it might have worked a lot better (or it might have resulted in a big fight)!.

In my opinion it's a very bad mood to jeapordize any future career plans because of a band- the music industry is so vicious and unpredictable and the success periods of even the most popular bands are so short that it would be reckless to throw away something else in favour of it!. The trick is to keep pursuing your other career, but leave the door open so that you can put it on hold- not jeopardize it- should your band ever have any success!.

These things are part and parcel of being 'in a band' and you're not the first or the last person to be kicked out of a band, by a long way!. You just have to not take it too personally, and look realistically at what your new options are!. You could try and find yourself a new band- a lot of people are looking for good vocalists!. If you play an instrument, there's the solo approach!.

If you throw a big strop then it will put other people off from working with you in future!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Edit* still thinking of yourself then!.!.!.!.Just maybe everyones right and your just crap!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
