Woah! Get a new teacher as soon as you can lol!. She won't help you get better at all!.

I started out on acoustic and I had the same problem about the songs I wanted to learn are played on electric!. I do have an electric now but the only thing is you can't play solo stuff very well on acoustics!.

For tabs I don't know what bands you like!. Pick a song you are really in to bacuse it makes youn want to learn it more and you probably know the song pretty well anyway!.

I found picking hard to start with but you do get used to it!. Alternative picking (picking up and down alternatively) is so much more easier when you learn how to do it and makes your playing faster!. There's also hammering on and pulling off with your fingers - you pick the string with the pick and then pull off to a different note or hammer on with your finger etc!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

hey just because a song is originally on an electric doesnt mean you cant play it acoustic!. i learned and played more than 10 AC/DC songs on an acoustic before i got my first electric!.
the only thing i can say to help you get better is try playing scales!. they're great ways to learn a certain type of music!. (mainly because most music is built around that genre's scale)
for picking try anysong with a solo!. it helps!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I taught myself on an acoustic, some great songs I used for practicing fingerpicking are House of the Rising Sun by the Animals, To Sheila by the Smashing Pumpkins, Andante in C by Mauro Giuliani, Scarborough Fair by Simon & Garfunkel, Of Angels & Angles by the Decemberists, and Blackbird by the Beatles!.
There are some good tutorials on http://www!.guitarnoise!.com/lessons/ too!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yes, get a real teacher!.
Learn to read standard notation so you can do more than bang out chords from some chord chart (which is what pretty much all "tabs" you get from the internet are, rough (and almost universally incorrect) chord charts)!.

A good course can help!. http://www!.learnandmasterguitar!.com is very well received!. I've been following it for a few months now and learned more in just the first few weeks than in years trying to learn from websites and self-teaching books!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I started playing guitar last December without a teacher, and I'm teaching myself right now to play the piano/keyboard!. What I do is just find some songs I like, look up the chords, and learn it!. Work on my strum patterns, my singing voice, my strength/quickness of my fingers!. You don't need a teacher, really!.

Some good artists for accoustic guitar are: Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, The Fray, really anybody!.!.!.when you search just make sure you look up the accoustic version of it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
