Question: Do you think Brian May (Guitarist of Queen) is underrated!?
Who else thinks that he is such a great guitarist but doesn't really get the same attention that other guitarists do (such as slash)
Queen is classic, and I think maybe its Freddie Mercury that gets all the attention because of his death!.

him and freddie complemented each other perfectly
and hes so overlooked in his own band is cuz freddie was such the frontman he kinda overshawdowed the band at times

Yes, he definitely is underrated, and though Freddie deserves every bit of attention he got, the rest of the band members deserve as much attention as well!. Brian was an amazing gutiarist and obviously can't be blamed for being underrated, I mean really, with someone like Freddy Mercury in your band you can't be an attention hog!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
Now a days it seems like Brian May is very underrated!. But back in the day he got a lot of attention, like Slash does now!.
Early Queen was all Brian May, but Freddy broke out and took over with Bohemian Rhapsody!. And it was all Freddie after that!.
But, if you listen to early Queen, it is amazing, and obvious Brian May invented Speed or Thrash Metal!. He needs to be recognized for that and much more!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

However, back in the 70's and even early 80's, Brian got a lot a press as a guitar god!. I think Queen's constant style changes, which hit reggae, disco and other poppy styles in the 80's, caused the "guitar oriented crowd" to ignore Queen!. Queen didn't follow trends and even made sure it would be hard to group them with progressive rockers!. They sort of always stood alone!.
However, May's distinctive sound and use of harmony was amazing!. also, take a listen to tunes like "Stone Cold Crazy" and tell me where you think the origins of speed metal lie !.!.!.

Yes I think he is underrated!.
He is amazing, his guitar playing compliments the rest of the queen music perfectly!.
And he can wail as well, just listen to the intro guitar solo in "I want it all"!.

I think Brian may is extremely underrated!. He is the King of Guitar tone, but never gets any of the recognition!.
