Like Darth I am going with!.!.!.

Dark Side of the Moon

BUT!.!. I do not feel the overall theme of that album is Insanity!. Roger Waters has even stated that the album as a whole is about life's up's and down's which include the good, the bad, the insane, death, and enjoying life!.

THEME: Life

*** All though I do agree that the entire album does boil down to Syd and his mental downfall!. Which still goes with the LIFE theme as well as the insanity!. So, I guess no matter how you look at it either description is correct!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Since most of the other answers I would have said have already been said (i!.e!. the Floyd ones) I'm gonna go with something more recent!. Though the music isn't spectacular, Alice Cooper's Along Came a Spider has an interesting story, following a serial killer who murders people and leaves them wrapped up in webs!. Spider, the killer, must collect eight legs from people he's killed to make himself a spider!. So each of his victims is missing a leg!. Like I said, the actual music on the album isn't all that great, but the story of the album itself is pretty killer (pardon the pun)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Probably, at least of ones that I can decipher a running theme, is XO by Elliott Smith which has a running theme of looking back regretfully!. At least that's how I've seen it!. It may not be in every single song, but when it goes away it comes back quick!.
