In my music theory class, we did things such as learning the names of the scale degrees, analyzing the choral works of Bach and looking for chord structures, and learning about the dreaded "tritone"!.

are you are going to do higher grades in your practical examinations, or you are just doing it for hobby!? becuase if you are going to to classical and do higher grades, theory is compulsory!. thats becuase without achieving certain theory grades, you cant get a certificate for when you do your practical
for example, if your going to eigth grade piano!. you need at least a 4th grade theory certificate, otherwise you cant get a certificate for your practical!. but you cvan still sit the exam, you just wont have anything to prove that you passed it!.
but i dont like theory, it was pretty hard for me and i had to quit at 8th grade (wich is pretty high)
but what you do in theory is that you learn more about how music is written and the different styles of classical music!. you also learn how to do transposition, memorising songs, musical terms!.!.!.!.!.!.its boring but you need to do itWww@Enter-QA@Com
