Don Helms, original steel guitar player for Hank Williams's Drifting Cowboys died Monday in Nashville of a heart attack!. He was 81!. Don helped create the "Hank Williams sound"!. In honor of Don, name a Hank Williams song you really like!. I love that bubbly steel guitar intro to "Hey Good Lookin''!. What's yours!? I remember his steel guitar as more "haunting" than "bubbly"
as in, "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry"
but yes he will be missed,
He played a "Lap Steel", today's steels have knee levers, and a dozen or so pedals for effects, while he did it with a lap steel!!Www@Enter-QA@Com
