Question: Would you consider Nirvana a classic rock band!?
I'm a little torn because the bulk of their success was in the 90's which isn't so so long ago (most classic rock bands were out in the 80s, 70s, 60s) but they were responsible for putting alternative rock on the map!. So what do you think!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

The word "classic" does not have to mean that it's old!. Something can be a classic if it was innovative, pivotal, new and different for the times!. (I think we have a lot of young kids answering this question) Nirvana was probably the first band to really change the sound of music in the 90's!. Anyone who grew up in the 80's was saturated with bubble-gum, synthesized sound!. When Nirvana broke out with Smells Like Teen Spirit, it completely changed the sound of the music we listen to and kicked off a whole new era in music!. Add to that the legend-status that was created by the suicide of Kurt Cobain!. They were a pivotal force in the music industry that could be considered "classic!."Www@Enter-QA@Com
Yes, Nirvana is already a classic rock band and their place in rock history is secure!. They join the list of many bands and artists whose relatively short careers had a dynamic impact on music!. I think that by your definition, "classic" takes time!.!.!. will they be played on "classic rock" radio stations!? Probably in about 10 years or so!. The real question is when Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Metallica become "classic", which bands are going to lose airplay!? Will a station programmer play Hey Jude, All Apologies, Feel Like Making Love, Black, All Along the Watchtower, and Black Hole Sun!.!.!. sounds like a winning combination to me!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Not classic, not just yet!. Although they must be getting that way considering there's a whole generation of kids listening to Nirvana and weren't even born when Kurt died!. Certainly the most influential band of their generation, and made the whole grunge scene massive!.
Personally I love em and the price of the rare vinyl that I have shows that they still have a hell of a lot of appeal!Www@Enter-QA@Com

they're already good enough to be a classic rock band, now you just have to give them time to be OLD enough to be a classic rock band!.
people are saying that nirvana is grunge and what not!.!.!.but it you look at the 90's and how they influenced it, they did WERE responsible for putting alternative rock on the map!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I consider them a classic rock band, but most people don't!. in another 10-15 years, they will be definitely a classic rock band! i love nirvana!

no, i wouldnt!. they were on the scene about 13 years ago so thats not exactly considered classic!. but if you asked if the beatles were classic rock, most definetley because they ruled the music scene more than 20 years ago!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
