I was in your shoes a couple years ago and picked up Dean's Playmate Bass Pack, it's 250 dollars or so, and you get a 10 watt amp, a decent bass, a cable, a tuner, a bag, strap, and some picks!. A decent set for the cost!. I still have the bass and it is still my primary bass too, after upgrading the cable, strings, and amp!.

It is easier than guitar to learn, but overall harder to play!. A lot of guitar is just using the same three or four chords a song, whereas with bass, you are using individual notes and generally traveling all along the fretboard!.

Start yourself with Boris the Spider!. My first Who song I was able to play!. You'll probably want to start some easy stuff, and learn the notes as well, before really trying to get into John's basslines!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

Haha The Ox's playing does have that effect on people
I play guitar (I'd love to play bass too, eventually)
my friend has a squier p-bass

As a former bass player and current drummer, bass is by far the easiest instrument to get started on!. There are too many options as far as which model to get, however my own personal experience was playing on both a Yamaha & a Richenbacher!.!.!.!.both excellent!. Yamaha is very reasonably priced!.

If you buy something cheap, you'll pay the price in the end when it comes to playability of the instrument!. Get a good amp as well!.!.!.!.nothing too cheap or you'll blow the head so much it would be cheaper to just get a nice oneWww@Enter-QA@Com

Ibanez makes quite a few bass guitars that have really thin necks, a quality that will usually allow a player to play much faster!.

I think short scale bass guitars, like the Epiphone EBO and the Fender Mustang Bass are much easier to hop around on ( I'm talkin' about moving around on the fretboard )!. Paul McCartney, Jack Bruce, Bill Wyman, Gene Simmons, John Cale, and Stanley Clarke all play short scale basses !.

The link below is a good long scale bas!. It has larger frets, though!. Be sure to try basses with ''medium-jumbo '' frets and '' vintage frets '' !.to see which play easier for you

just to add on to what The Colonel said, bass is easy to start on but, as i have heard so many times before and have come to realize, it is very hard to master!. Just practice a lot!.

and Squiers are pretty cheap!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
