Answers:
I guess there are two ways of interpreting this question:

1) would hip hop be the same if samples had never been a part of it!?

2) would hip hop be the same if samples were no longer allowed to be a part of it!?

Either way, I think the answer is no!. Sampling was a created as a way to take a sound segment and interpret it in a whole new fashion!. That was something that had never been done before and required a whole new musical brain trust to see what the possibilities could be!.

Any talented musician could create a bass heavy, rhythmic beat if it only utilized original music!. But it takes a creative person who understands what hip hop is to take an established sound clip and think of new ways to use it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

You mean if samples were taken away right now!? Hip hop would still survive because there are producers who completely make their own beat!. Like Dr!. Dre he comes up with his own beats and he doesn't even use samples!. If he hears something from another song he wants to use he doesn't sample it he recreates it!.
If you are talking about back then, hip hop wouldn't have even gotten off the ground because the whole thing started off of sampling and break beats!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

There would be a lot more hip hop bands like The Roots and Crown City Rockers!. I don't know if that would be a good thing or a bad thing!. I usually like hip hop groups that use live instruments, but if the entire genre was saturated with hip hop bands, it probably wouldn't be as cool!.

Producers and DJs would probably suck because crate-digging and sample usage are the most important aspects of hip hop production!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

No it wouldn't be nearly as good!. You have to remember that most DJ's and producers are not trained musicians!. The sample served as their crutch, so to speak!. Nonetheless, sampling is still an artform that requires musical knowledge!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

No, I don't think so!. It would still exist as a genre, and I would still love it, but it would not be the hip hop we all know today!.
Sampling is an integral part of the art - in fact, it's an art form in its own right!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

No!.

The first song to hit the top 40 chart wouldn't have if it didn't have that sample!.

Sampling is part of hip hop and take away any aspect of hip hop and it wouldn't be the same!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

it would be very different and producers would be forced to be very creative to capture the minds of the listenerWww@Enter-QA@Com

No!. I mean it originally comes from rapping over the breaks of disco records!. Without sampling hip hop wouldn't be here in the first place!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It would be able to function, but it wouldn't be as successful!.

Hip Hop would lack creativity
Www@Enter-QA@Com

it wouldnt be tha same because first half of these rapper wouldnt be dere and second producer would straight have 2 make beats by themselves and datz hardWww@Enter-QA@Com

No

But maybe it will be a good thing if it was taken away!. Producers would have to put their creative skills to the test!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
