Other than the obvious chronological difference-before 1941/after 1945, there are some differences in style, instrumentation, etc!. The post war music of America (including pop, r & b, blues, country, etc!.) reflected the new found optimism of most Americans!. The years of conflict, rationing, death and economic hardship were behind them!. This is reflected lyrically primarily, but a more driving, more rambunctious music was needed to complement the subject matter!. Of course, there were optimistic songs before the war and desolate songs after, but overall there is a marked difference in most forms of American music after the mid-forties!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

Pre war is more ragtime jazz and Delta blues!. Post war is when the electric guitar hit the blues and the Chicago influence began!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
