You'll probably want like a tube amp!. Maybe look at the Epiphone Valve series, I have the combo amp of the Epiphone Valve series and it has amazing tone and when it's turned up it has great overdrive and is very very loud (and it's only 5 watts)!. They also make an Epiphone Valve Half-Stack:

Since those Tube amps get so loud before they get distorted and they don't have an overdrive channel you may want a distortion pedal!. I'm looking at the Boss DS-1 and the Digitech Screamin' Blues Overdrive/Distorion Pedals, but I haven't decided yet!.

also look at the larger Fender Combo amps like the Frontman 212R (I think it's called)!. You should look at some cheaper Marshalls too!. also some Crates, I've tried a few of those and they have amazing gain!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i would go for a peavey!. dosent really matter what size at your stage of playing, but i wouldnt go buy a whole halfstack!. until you are officially in a band, playing shows, you wont need anything that loud!. look for tube amps too, those have etter tone than most solid state amps (if you dont know what that means, ask the guy at guitar center!.

i would reccomend staying away from marshalls!. in my experience, they arent too reliable!. everyone makes them sound really great but i bbought 3 marshall amps and had to return them all because they were wired wrong, and the guitar didnt sound right through it!. then i got a peavey about 5 years ago and ive been happy with it since!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

for the money, peavey is probably your best option!.

VOX if you need a good tube amp, Marshall if you are a GREAT musician and you have been practicing for years!.
VOX amps have great effects, and gives out a great clean tone!. You could also look into a Fender amp, but I personally don't like them because of the poor distortion!. Marshall is probably the way to go
