I wanted to disagree at first, however, upon further investigation, I tend to agree with what you said here!. I think that people consider her a top female MC because the 25% of the time that she DOES rhyme is better than 100% of most of these other female MCs!.

She spit a few lines on there too, but the album was too bogged down with her crying and eccentric spin on her personal tales of tragedy, politics and triumph to make any real impact!. I think that she has allowed her personal issues to damage her craft and has basically fell off as a result!. It's because when she raps she's better than 90 percent of male rappers!. I agree that she doesn't really rap that much, but when she's that good, and (no offense to the ladies) most other female rappers are that bad, you're inclined to put her near the top regardless of a small catalogue!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

She's not in my top 5, but I assume other people put her there because aside from MC Lyte and Queen Latifah (I probably forgot somebody else), she's the only female emcee that achieved a good amount of success without relying on gimmicks!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

She's in my top 5!. It's kind of like the argument of how can Biggie be top 10 material with only 2 albums!? Because those 2 albums were better than anything most people have put out in a 10 album career!.
Same with Hill - The Score and Miseducation were so seminal, so incredible, that they alone qualify her!.
Plus, there's her Re-education mixtape which is very, very good!.
I don't really count her Unplugged album to be honest, because she struck me as a woman dealing with a lot of issues (including rumours of mental health problems) and as such I think we as fans could, at least for once, show some compassion and give her a pass!. Plus, compared to her contemporaries her worst album is still better than most of their best ones!.
Her collaboration work is also worth considering!. Her verses on Bob Marley's Turn Your Lights Down Low or with Common on Retrospect for Life are pure fire!.
