Opinion on country music today?!

Question: Opinion on country music today!?
I was browsing the internet when I noticed that several country singers that were big in their day where failing to chart as of lately!. IMO when Randy Travis, Vince Gill, Travis Tritt, and John Michael Montgomery, to name a few, fail to chart it means true country is dying out!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

There's a difference between "failing to chart" and "failing to make a country record" these days!. Acts like the ones you list will continue to make records!. Just don't expect them to sell out to the current wave of cookie cutter "hits" that have dominated the chart since Foster and Lloyd broke up and Shania Twain won Grammys!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

those country artists u listed were big back in the day, like in 1990s, but now they've been overshadowed by new, modern day artists like taylor swift, carrie underwood, kellie pickler!.!.!. etc!. look at carrie underwood: shes one of the most successful in terms of charts and sales in modern country music!. country music is not dying out, the others are just being a little overshadowed by new ones!. Personally, I love "useless hillbilly crap"!.

My opinion's pretty similar to the way Johnny Cash used to talk about this one!. Unfortunately, today's country suffers from overproduction and a loss of focus!. Much of it sounds like twangy pop and a lot of it has begun to sound like classic rock or just rock in general!. It's lost touch with its roots and is starting to sound just like all of the other crap on the radio!. There are some exceptions though!.!.!. there's still some good stuff in the genre and!.!.!. fortunately!.!.!. the mainstream is beginning to pick up on the sound again {just like back in the '70s} !.!.!.In my opinion, a lot of "rock" sounds a lot better with a bit of "billy" going on in it!.

{I'm not exactly depressed to hear about a few of your choices up there!.!.!. Dwight Yoakum, on the other hand!.!.!.}Www@Enter-QA@Com

Country music today is different than it was when I was young !.!.!. but there are similarities to the "greats of the past"

It's still about the human experience! The tempo is different, the tone is different !.!.!. but it still feels like me!

The country music of today still hits me in the heart! Toby Keith's "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue" has the same message as Merle Haggard's "The fighting side of me"!.

New country !.!.!. old country !.!.!. I love it all! I see myself in both!.

As long as people are singing about real life !.!. country will never die!

I love just about everything that Tammy Wynette did !.!.!. but I love Carrie Underwood's music just as much!

Hank Wiliams Jr!. !.!.!. Hank Senior !.!.!. both tell the same stories, just in different ways!

Listen to the old, embrace the new !.!.!. it's all about you!Www@Enter-QA@Com

country seems to be dying out more on the east coast it seems and not sure where else!. I dont think it will die in the mid west at all though because when i was in KY that was the only music i heard on the radio!. we don't have any country stations in NY!. Funny thing is though is I'm one of Rascal Flatts biggest fans!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i feel the same way man, like hank sr!., buck owens, willie nelson, merle haggard, and johhny cash, used to rule the charts, now its just girls , and sugarland, god , i hate there all i want to do song,,

Your not alone
ya know , i wasnt around then( only 14), but i still prefer old music to new music,,

hope i could help !.!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I can't stand the pop insurgence!. "This Kiss" was one of the worst things to happen to us since "Rhinestone Cowboy!." And what's with kicking out all the old people, "old" being a relative term defined by the industry as over 30!? It seems like every single new artist out there is fresh out of their teens with nothing to sing about but puppy love (this from a 25-year-old)!. Give me George Strait any day!

Although, as long as songs like "Troubadour" and "I Saw God Today" can top the charts, I guess there's still hope!. And what about Alan Jackson's new one, "Good Time"!? Maybe he'll succeed in bringing back line dancing!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I belive that the "country "music that is produced today is not really country!.
I also think that sometimes people (singers included) have times when things are not running so good for them, but that later down the line there will be a turn around for them!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I agree with you - I was watching CMT yesterday and after a while I thought I've just been watching crap!.
Montgomery Gentry was one of the acts - dreadful!.
Nothing to sing along with!. Traditional has gone out the window!.
Thank God for Alan Jackson and George Strait!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It does seem to be fading out with all the new stuff nowadays!. I'm an avid listener and it can get depressing at times!. I have to find an oldies station for Glen Cambell and such!. I say we buy the cd's to at least keep it alive to us!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Listen to George Jones singing Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes, that tells it how it isWww@Enter-QA@Com

I'm not a fan of country music!. In my opinion it's like nails on a chalkboard!. Just useless hillbilly crap!. Hope I didn't offend anyone but I'm into classic rock!. And yes I like the Allman Bros!. and Lynyrd Skynyrd, I happen to be wearing a Skynyrd shirt right now!. So no I'm not against the south, I just strongly dislike country music!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It's country music, what do you expect!? It's not the best genre of music!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
