Les Paul Guitar Tuning Problem!

Question: Les Paul Guitar Tuning Problem
I have recently bought a Les Paul and when I bought it, it was missing the high e string!. I changed all the strings on it and put a new string on the e, when i went to tune it the string broke i put another string on it and that string broke so far i have put 4 strings on it and 3 of them have broke, the last string i put on it i have gotten it close to being in tune but still a ways off, Any suggestions to get it to tune!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

The first thing I would determine is where the strings are breaking!. If they are breaking up by the nut, then you know the problem is there!. If they are breaking down by the bridge, then you know that the problem is down there!.

I doubt the strings are breaking in different places, but rather, tend to break in the same spot!. !. My guess is that your bridge has some sharp edge on it that is basically cutting the string in two when you bring it up to full tension!.

Take it to a luthier and tell him the problem!. I bet it can be fixed easily and cheaply!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

There could be a number of problems!. Make sure you put the right gauge of strings on!. I would recommend 10's for a Les Paul because of the scale!. You will also need to check the bridge saddle and nut for burrs or anything that might cut the string!. And never use cheap strings!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
