First of all I agree with Bizarre, Magic Man if you really know your music, you should know the "Major Tom" song that you're thinking of, probably is--if you're still talking about David Bowie that is--is a song called "Space Oddity"!. That being said, actually there was a Major Tom song not done by David Bowie, but by a guy named Peter Schilling which is poppy as opposed to more the folksy acoustic sounding mainly "Space Oddity" song David Bowie does!. However as poppy as Major Tom(Coming Home) sounds I like it anyway, cause it still is a somewhat romantic, beautiful, pretty song like "Space Oddity" is!. As for what Leoric 18 said about or if anybody else mentions "China Girl", or even "Tonight", "China Girl" & "Tonight" for example are cover songs David Bowie did of from when he worked with Iggy Pop, so really "China Girl" or "Tonight" are Iggy Pop songs originally!. As for my favorite David Bowie song(s) well for his rockin' stuff I'd say--
"Tin Machine"(from Tin Machine project)
"Crack City"(from Tin machine also)
which with those Tin Machines songs which were from David Bowie's Tin Machine project days I didn't know if would count, but for the rest of his rockin' stuff---

"Jean Genie"
"Rebel Rebel"
"I'm afraid of Americans" with Trent Raznor(Nine Inch Nails)
& a bunch more as far as his rockin' stuff goes!.
However as far as my very 2 favorites go of David Bowie's I'd say these 2 songs--

& especially "Never let me down" as my favorite cause I'm a romantic, even though I like hardcore punk, industrial, psychobilly, speed metal,
