Question: For rap heads and aspiring rappers!.
The rapper Akon has been calling his self Convict because he says he was the leader of a big car thief ring and he did time in jail!. Come to find out he did no time in jail and was no leader in a car theft ring!. So since he has been exposed he does not say convict in his songs anymore!. So why do you feel he had to create this negative image of his self to get ahead!. And would he not have made it as far as he has, if he was raised middle-class with two loving parents!. Yes I think negativity sells also it is a image he was trying to create so he would be more acceptable in the music biz!. When you listen to SOME rappers all they talk about is sex, drugs, murder, money, jewelery!. Knowly they have never done any of it!.Why !? Because that is what the demand is for some rap music other wise rappers wouldnt make it!. Supply and demand!. So realisticly some rappers feel you have to protray hard or be hard to be a rapper!. Yes negativity sells!. We all wanna watch train wrecks!.!.!. I think its @$$ backwards thinking that you have to be "hard" to be a rapper!. Maybe if we just start thinking these hard core rappers are actors, it won't be such an issue when they get "exposed"!.
