Answers:
No you don't need to know how to play an instrument at all!. I've been in the music industry for over 10 years and most of the lyric and melody writers that I know don't know the first thing about playing instruments!.
As far as what you should do, it's gonna be a little harder for you since you're writing the lyrics and melodies first and now looking for music to be written to it!. Although that does happen, most times it's the music that's written first!. It takes more talent for the person doing the music to have to create music to something that's already there!. It is possible to find those very talented producers but it is harder!.
I would advise that you keep writing as you have been and start searching through people's MySpace music pages to see if you can find aspiring producers who are doing the style of music that would match your style of writing!. They're trying to make it too so you guys can help each other!.
Tell him that you'll write to his tracks!. At the end of the day if you write something nice on it, it benefits you both!. You both own the song 50/50!.
It'll take time to find the right people and it'll get frustrating at times but no one ever said it would be easy!. If this is your dream you should go after it full steam ahead!. It wasn't that long ago that I was 22 and in your exact same position!.!.!. it's possible!.!.!. I'm proof!Www@Enter-QA@Com

no, you dont have to play an instrument to get your music heard!. Most artists dont write their own music (although theres been quite a few lately who do) so they need people like you to do so for them, its just a matter of finding them and collaborating!.

i do the same thing, though the closest i got to hearing my lyrics as an actual song is my cousins band put music to it for me as a present :)Www@Enter-QA@Com

Lyrics without music are poems!. A lyricist needs to at least sing and play the piano!. You don't have to play well but you need to add melody to your lyrics for them to be songs!. If you want someone else to write the melodies, then organize your songs into verses and choruses!. Have fun!Www@Enter-QA@Com
