Boston or Journey?!

Question: Boston or Journey!?
The funny thing about these bands, they are kinda similar!. Especially in that they are a band who you like, or it's not your thing!. I've never really met some one who flat out hated both bands!.

So whose your choice!? I prefer Boston, I just like the structure of their songs and how they base a simple electric guitar part and solo over a few sections of really catchy acoustic rhythm!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I don't find a whole lotta similarity between Boston and Jorney Myself except that they were both Arena Rock Bands in the late 70's early 80's!. The main difference being Journey started as a Jazz Prog Band, while Boston was straight up Arena Rock from the start!. Journey also had a much much longer career!.
That being said I vastly prefer Journey, up to a point!. I love their first 6 albums before they went saccharine Pop!. IMO Evolution is the last really good album Journey did, that was in 1978!. Don't get me wrong, I like Boston and respect them a ton, especially the debut album!. But I burnt Myself out on them pretty bad years ago by overplay!. I just like Journey better overall and like I said, their first six albums are incredible!. I recommend them to Anyone!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i like both, but am much more into journey's work!.!.!.even though i do like boston, i find them a little boring at times, so many of their songs are based on the same couple of riffs!.!.!.to me, journey had much more musical diversity within the band

and i have to say, i find no similarity between them at all!.!.!.boston is a pure classic rock band just like so many others, based primarily on a guitar riff and intriguing lyrics!.!.!.journey started out as a prog band and then went into keyboard-driven balladsWww@Enter-QA@Com

Boston but I also like early Journey (don't like the cheesy "Don't Stop Believin' !.!.Journey)!. But really that could be geographical, I grew up an hour or so south of Boston and they go really heavy airplay and promotion when I was growing up!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Boston
I have a lot of Boston songs, and I like all of them!. I can't say that for Journey!. Plus, Boston's best songs blow Journey out of the water!. But I do love Journey!Www@Enter-QA@Com

It's Boston for me too!.

I like both, but Boston's tunes are so catchy, you can't help but like them!.

And I agree, I don't think anyone can say that they flatout hate these bands!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

That's a REALLY difficult question!.!.!. but i'd have to say Boston!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Tom Shultz (Boston) actually invented his guitars to make the sounds that only Boston can make!. He also invented the Poloroid One-Step Camera (true)!. Brad Delp came up with all those great harmonies and it was just magic!. Plus they were the first band I ever saw live (when I was 13)!. No other band sounds like Boston (though I agree, as you stated they are 'kinda simular' with Journey, REO and even Styx (to a point)!. But Boson, imho, were the great PARTY band ever!. And still are!. They took the small-town club party band and filled up arenas!. I miss Brad Delp soooooooo much and his suicide last March shocked me more than any other has since Ben Orr (The Cars) and John Lennon!.

Journey!. I've just rekindled my love of Journey!. Sure I have the greatest hits cd (cheesey 80s radio hits and all)!. But since I've recently been transferring my vinyl to the computer, I've returned to the greatness of 'Evolution' and the excellent (live album) Captured!. Journey are just better one album at a time, instead of a 'greatest hits' listening!. So are REO and Foreigner and Billy Squier and ELO!. Whereas, Boston can be in any random order and you still feel like you're listening to that one great party album!. Honestly, in my listening lifetime, the only other album you can throw on at any party besides Boston is GnR's Appetite For Destruction and everyone will yell and dance!. And those are 2 totally different bands that will take you to the same place!.
Journey was good before Steve Perry joined!. They were great after he joined!. The best off-spring Journey band was 'Bad English' with John Waite on vocals!. John was in 'The Babys' with Jonathan Cain who joined Journey in the early 80s and wrote most of their 80s hits!. I've recently had the chance to watch the new Journey concert on VH-1 that has their new lead singer, Kevin Chalfant!. Once he starts singing, he really makes the old songs sound new again!. So Journey is back!!!!!!
Boston will forever live inside music fans and speakers everywhere! :)Www@Enter-QA@Com
