I never thought I'd go the download route, but after ripping all my CDs six years ago, new CDs have gone straight from store to computer to storage!.
It's great to have CDs as an automatic backup (and to be able to re-rip one day at a higher quality as storage gets cheaper), but it's hard to beat the convenience and get-it-right-NOW-edness of DRM-free albums from Amazon MP3 Store or iTunes Plus from Apple!.
I'm probably 80% new/used CD and 20% paid download these days!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

definately buy it!. there's a connection with you and the band, no matter how small when you buy it!. you're supportin them, as apposed to simply srimping off them!. The charts mean less now than they once did, as any mug can get a number one, so album buying is the important part for bands!. Bands such as radiohead or Kanye can really portray further things through an album, in the sleave you often get a further insight into the mind of the artist!. If you're buying greatest hits, you can find intense biographies of the artist, telling you things you neve knew!. A great example of this is Robert Johnsons' Complete Recordings, which maps his short life, as wel as what is thought to be the truth behind his untimely death!.

i download to hear things i wouldn't normally hear on the radio and to see if the band are truly worth buying into !!! Fopp Records had a "suck it and see" policy which in effect meant buy the cd and if you don't like it!.!.!.!.!.return it !!! Only bettered by working there, which i did for a few blissful years !!! Lammy, is Groucho's still open !? Anyhoos i prefer the days of vinyl!.!.!.cannae whack it !!! Gatefold sleeves(it's no the same trying to roll a wee number on a cd case !),4 track 7" singles with wraparound sleeves in a poly bag with a free flexi disc and fanzine !!! I'm getting all misty eyed!.!.!.!.picture discs too !!! I'm away to listen to the Smiths !!! oh aye mate i forgot about Danny Wilson!.!.!.!.but ye missed the silencers i think ! There's been plenty of great scottish bands!.!.!.and i'm glad someone else is old enough to remember the Shop Assistants !!! Seriously though the price could still drop for cd's, i think ! No one has mentioned the labels profit margins !! The majors don't care about the artists they just want to make more money for themselves !! More bands are able to do it for themselves and maybe now in the age of the internet we will see the death of the major labels and all of the money generated would go back to the artists themselves ! i usually download an album & if i like it, i buy it but then again sometimes i go into hmv & just buy 3-5 random Metal or Rock bands i've never heard of, i like cd's, i don't mind paying out the money but i don't wanna waste money on an album i won't like, thats i why i download it firstWww@Enter-QA@Com
Definately buy!. I am against pirated stuff and am an avid supporter for artists' work and contributions!. In fact, my opinion is that people who like to download things for free should be banned from having the internet!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

You can easily copy MP3's onto CD then print the covers off and put them into a platic case yourself without having to pay around ￡10 for it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
