What challenges would I face with starting the Violin?!

Question: What challenges would I face with starting the Violin!?
Alright, I'm trying to add another instrument to my range of playing!. Right now, I play clarinet for my schools' marching band, and oboe for my schools' concert band!. I play around with piano on the side too!. I asked this question, regarding the cello!.!.!. but what challenges would I face if I started the violin!? Umm!.!.!. I'm a 14-year old boy, and I can obviously read music!. Is it treble cleft!? Are the notes the same, 'c, d, e, f, g, a, b' !?!?!?!? help plz!!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

The only real difference with the cello and violin when starting out is the treble and bass cleft difference!. If you like bass cleft play cello, if you like treble cleft play violin!. Cello music sometimes uses treble cleft if they play higher!.

Because you know music already the only challenges you would face would be the fact that you're using arms, fingers, etc to play instead of being in one stationary position!. You don't have as much free movement to play your arm/fingers; actually if you play incorrectly in the beginning it's hard to reverse it!. How you hold a violin/bow is pretty technical!.

You can't teach yourself violin like you can piano and play it correctly!. You will need a private teacher and rent a violin if you want to do well!.

Um, like the oboe and clarinet you need to tune the instrument but you have to tune each 4 strings!. And if you're still out of tune on the violin, it's your fingers fault!. For some notes (advance though, won't learn/touch for years) if you're just a few centimeters off it could be out of tune or a different note!. So, you have to have a good ear to reconize of something is out of tune and to fix it!.

So I guess the only challenge is just the manner of how you play it!. Other than that there's nothing too drastic!.!.!.!.you'll have to cut your fingernails short haha

I would give it a try! Since you have a musical background it probably won't be very difficult to start out!. The notes are the same and it's in treble cleft!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

violin has a lot of competition between players!. You have to be good (at least compared to everybody else) to get good parts!. Its a little more intense than with other instruments because there are more of them, and they are very divided into say, seconds and firsts, and only a select few will play melody!.

another thing is that you need to have a good ear for pitch/ finger memory, that you don't necessarily learn with the clarinet, oboe, or piano!. and more flexibility of the fingers and hands than the other instruments!.

but basically, all this is something that can be gotten used to with practice!. You mentioned that you are also thinking about cello!?

I'd go with that, just because there is less pressure for somebody who's playing to have fun, and you get the same opportunities for solos and melody!. A lot of high school violinists are only playing because their parents make them!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Some of your questions are best answered by your music director, however at fourteen you will have few to no challenges other than applying yourself to the violin!. Your current knowledge base will certainly carry you in learning this instrument!.

I have a friend who began playing the violin at 50 years of age and within six months he was a very accomplished violinist!. He had to contend with working a forty hour week as well, so you see it can be learned and without undue stress!.

You appear to have a very high desire to learn music and different types of instruments!. I believe you will be very successful at this endeavor!. Good luck!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yes, it's treble clef!. You need to find a decent student instrument and a good private teacher!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
