Thunderfingers was hands down, the most amazing Bassist to ever play in a Rock Band!. What he could do (4 finger, detuning on th efly, etc) was just SICK!.
For bands on the whole and all!.!. I am a much bigger fan of Zeppelin!. And, JPJ is great!. One of the most important in Rock (along with Geddy Lee, Chris Squire, Lemmy and Geezer for the 70s)!. And as a musician, JPJ was certainly the more diverse!.
But!.!.that more singular focus the Entwistle had becomes apparent when he solos!.
Entwistle was so good!.!.!. I can't even consider him an influence to my playing!.!.!. as I will NEVER be able emulate what he did!. (I can play Steve Harris, John Paul Jones, Geddy, Cliff etc!.!.!.!.!. but!.!.!.one of those Thunderfinger Solos!? No)Www@Enter-QA@Com

John Paul Jones would be My favorite out of the two for three reasons!.
1 I like Led Zeppelin better than The Who
2 Entwistle might be a better Bassist, but John Paul Jones is a much better all around Musical Virtuoso
3 Jonesey's Mellotron, Keyboard, and String arrangements absolutely made several of Zep's best songs!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

its a simple question in my opinion u see ent wistle is alot better ask urself this if he wasnt why would jones copy the type of strings entwhistle uses shurely for the sound jones has a uniqe style but entwistle can take joneses style and standout from the guitar with a solo or to while jone just does what page doesWww@Enter-QA@Com

Entwhistle had his technical form of playing and could move up and down the neck faster than you could say 'car'!.
But Jones can keep a groove for 8-10 minutes and is unstoppable!.
They both had great solos!.

Personally, I'd say John Entwhistle is the better basist!.
But, John Paul Jones is the better overall musician, especially as he was also a composer and arranger, and worked with several people outside of Led Zeppelin!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

John Entwistle was the better live performer while John Paul Jones was better in the studio!.
Therefore my preference is John Entwistle!

I don't think The Who are widely celebrated anough for their musical talents (aside from Pete Townshend)!. So even though I love Zeppelin, I'm gonna say Entwhistle!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
