Answers:
Falsetto is a term generally used when referring to the higher notes in a male vocal range!. The comparable term for women's voices is "head voice"!.

Start singing in your lower voice, and work your way up!. At a certain point, and it is different for everyone, your voice will "break", or change in quality and volume!. That is the beginning of your "head voice"!. It may be softer and lighter sounding, but that is only because you may not know how to use your breath correctly to support the sound and make it stronger and louder!.

When you sing in your lower voice, your "chest voice", make sure that you are keeping your throat very open, almost like you're yawning!. If you don't, you may end up "belting", which could hurt your vocal cords!. So screaming in your chest voice is NOT real singing!!! That is belting, and unless you know how to belt using your breath properly, you could damage your vocal cords!.

An "open" voice is one that is properly produced, i!.e!. using diaphragmatic breathing!. If you need help with proper breathing, look below - I've included some tips!.

Falsetto (for women - head voice) IS AN OPEN VOICE!!! It is possible to use that same head voice in your mid and lower ranges, rather than belting!. That is the correct way to sing all of the time!!!!!

DIAPHRAGMATIC BREATHING: Lie on the floor on your back - put a heavy book on your stomach!. Take a deep breath (inhale), and the book should go up!. When you let the breath out (exhale), the book should go down!. Practice this, until you can do it without the book!. Then stand up, and you should be able to breathe the same way!. When you inhale, it should seem as if you're filling up your stomach with air - your shoulders should not go up and down when you breathe!. When you exhale or sing, tighten your stomach muscles to push the air out!. This muscle support is the correct way to use your diaphragm, which is a muscle under your ribcage!. Stand in front of a mirror so you can make sure that your shoulders don't move up and down when you inhale and exhale!.

Breathing Exercise: Inhale (the correct way) and let the air out on "sss"!. See if you can "sss" for 10 seconds, then 15 and then 20 seconds!. Continue to try to add more time, by taking a bigger breath!. Just make sure that it's the right kind of breath!!!

Head Voice Exercise: Start singing on "ah" in your highest voice!. Sing five notes down!. Then move down step by step!. Try to keep your throat very open, so you continue singing in your head voice, even as you get lower!. Eventually, you should be able to sing lower than you could before, in your "REAL, OPEN, HEAD VOICE"!

Good Luck!.

I hope this helps!Www@Enter-QA@Com
